Secrets of a Girls' hostel revealed....

As I am on the verge of packing-my-bags-again mode, I look back at the 2 years spent in a girls' hostel for the first time in my life and thought sharing a couple of funny-secrets might turn out to be an interesting read.

ME: Aunty, (our warden, a very nice lady)...how long has this hostel (PG actually) been in existence?
AUNTY: As a girls' hostel, 14 years...
ME: You mean..it was something else previously?
AUNTY: Yes...it used to be a boys' hostel before...
ME: ...and which of the two (boys/girls) do you think is easier to manage, aunty? :)
AUNTY: Oh...Sun..Reeta (That's also how my name is pronounced :) )....don't ask...it's always the boys...
ME: What difficult?
AUNTY: oh no no no...easier...much easier to manage I tell you... :) (Provided there are no girls' hostels in the vicinity :) )
ME: Ha ha ha...and why do you say so Aunty? What do the girls do wrong?
AUNTY: Ha ha ha...It would be easier for me to tell you what the boys do right.. :)

Ahem...now before the men start feeling all jubilant let me cut it here....

Observations:
It's almost always common to hear someone or the other screaming..reasons being lizards, flying cockroaches, rats, squirrels, birds' nests containing newly hatched eggs, even other girls ;)

There would never be boys around, but even then you would hear "I Love You's", "Sweethearts" "Darlings" being exchanged...(well it's somewhat like a female-version of the friendly-hurling-of-abuses that men exchange in each sentence which we women do not understand..(Info Courtesy: T, A , and Hangover :))...)

You can never lay your hands on the T.V. remote control...I have been lucky enough to operate it thrice in the last 2 years and received a lot of disgusting looks for watching TLC, Man vs Wild..etc...because it is usually the "Saans Bahu" serials that they would be interested in...

FIFA world cup final....I sense a general excitement in all the women...I finish my dinner early so that I can catch the closing ceremony et al...when I reach the mess...they were all watching Star Screen Awards....and cheering Shilpa Shetty :)

There would be springs of laughter and oceans of tears, There would be strong shoulders and also patient ears...
Jealous looks...sharp and very very fowl words...

But there would also be unspoken connections and never to be broken cords...
